toni garcia-butler (they/he)

is a Black Fil-am poet, community artist, and DIY pretty boy of many names. He calls Arkansas home. You can call them Jet.

After studying creative writing and English as an undergrad, Toni spent a year or so in the classroom before coming into themself. He found a way to combine his love for education, community building, and creativity by programming at the public library - and by branching out into Little Rock’s creative scene. Toni has attended Open Mouth Literary Center’s 2022 poetry retreat, as well as Abode Press’ inaugural writers’ retreat.

Find Toni’s work published in Closet Cases: Queers on What We Wear (2020), {new words press} (forthcoming, vol 7), and many self-published zines. Or find them hosting Beautywood Books’ monthly Open Floor Night, occasionally performing in Central Arkansas, or at their local library.
